BIOGRAPHY OF CHIEF (GREAT SERVANT), SIR ANTHONY S NWEKE, IZU BU NKA I OF ETEGHA N’AGBOGHO
Chief, Great Servant, Sir, Anthony Nweke
was born in the Family of late Mr. Nwogwugwu Kanne, of Eziama Mgboko Amairi in
Obingwa LGA of Abia State in 1932, a second son
and last child of the family.
EARLY LIFE
His early stage in life was tough after the
death of his father, which made their mother to take them back to Amaiyi Nvosi,
in Isiala south L G A, where her kinsmen accepted them and breed them up.He started his academic career late, but he
was able to cope with his studies.
After his studies, he taught as a teacher
in then missionary school. During the Nigerian-Biafran War, he worked with the
World Council of Churches, where he was providing relief materials, and other
humanitarian services.
MARRIED LIFE
Chief Anthony Nweke was married to Late
Mrs. Josephine Anthony, a loving wife and Mother, who departed from this World
in August 19, 1994, since then Chief Anthony did not remarry but maintained his faith in God.His marriage was blessed with 8 children, 2
Sons and 6 Daughters.
PROFESSION
Chief Anthony Nweke is an Electrician by
profession and worked with Eastern Enamel ware in Port Harcourt , and
also with Nigerian Ports Authority, and was retired in 2002.
CHRISTIAN LIFE
Chief, Great Servant Anthony Nweke was the architect when St Mary’s Catholic Church was established in Eziama Mgboko, in 1984.
On the 16th June 1996 , he was conferred and honored as a Great Servant at St Jude’s
Catholic Parish Eastern Ngwa Ohuru by
Rev Fr Charles Ubawike.From 2001 to 2003, he was the Vice Chairman
of the Parish Council of St Michaels Parish Umuezi under Rev Fr Michael
Ngwagwu.Before death snatched him away, he was
appointed the C M O Chairman of Umuezi Station. During his life time, Chief
Nweke was a devoted Christian, a humble servant to all who come in contact with
him.
EMPOWERMENT
Many benefited from his wealth of
knowledge, a man of his words, a farmer and a giver. Sir, as we generally
called him, your works on earth shall ever be remembered.Sir, was conferred a Chieftaincy title IZU
BU NKA I OF ETEGHA NA AGBOGHO, by His Royal Highness, Eze E. S. AMAECHI.He was the acting chairman of the council
of Chiefs, before his departure. During the era of kidnapping in Abia State , sir was
kidnapped twice, 2008 and 2009, but God preserved his life in the den of the
hoodlums.
SPORTS LIFE
Sir was a footballer, he played in various teams then until he retired, and he loved football till the day he departed this world.
Sir was a man of himself, a solution
provider, a peace maker, a principled and disciplined fellow, and so many
things you will be remembered of, a loving father.We see your death as a great loss in human
race, but God knows the best. Sir, we love you, we will not disappoint you, we
shall maintain your legacy, sleep in peace of our Lord. Amen.
